BUCKINGHAM SQUASH CLUB

LEAGUE RULES

1)         Only Squash Club paid up members are eligible to play in the leagues.

2)         Each player must aim to play the others in his/her league by the allotted end date.  If you cannot easily be contacted by phone you are responsible for telephoning other players in your league.

3)         Points are awarded as follows:       2 points for playing
1 point for each game won
1 point for a match win

Write down the match result on the sheet (eg 3-1), not your points, as this may confuse the League Secretary!

4)         The three players with the highest scores will normally be promoted, and the three with the least scores demoted.  However, due to players dropping out or returning this may be changed.

5)         In the event of two players scoring the same points, their own match result will be taken into consideration.  If they have not played each other the player who has played the greater number of matches will be placed in the higher position.  After this their positions on the league table will decide the matter.

6)         If you are unable to play due to injury or holidays you must notify the League Secretary in the first three weeks of a playing session.  An injured player will normally be demoted by one league next session.

7)         If you have made contact with a player more than twice to arrange a match but with no success, record the walkover on the sheet as ‘w/o’ for you and 0 for your opponent.  This also applies if your opponent fails to arrive for a pre-arranged match.  You should not be hindered by others’ laziness.

8)         Players who make no attempt to play at all during a session will be demoted at the discretion of the League Secretary.  This may result in a drop of more than one league.

9)         Players who fail to play any games in 3 consecutive sessions will be removed from the leagues altogether.

10)         New league members will normally enter the bottom league and if they win all their matches will be promoted appropriately at the discretion of the League Secretary.  However, should a player feel that his/her standard of play is of League 4 or above they should contact any member of the Committee or Current Team Member for assessment to determine their position in the league.  No new player may enter higher than League 2.

11)         Any enquiries or queries regarding the leagues should be addressed to the League Secretary, Laurie Spragg, on 01280 860340.
